RETURN TO DASHBOARD
Take the following tutorial to learn how to use the Change the Game 2022 dashboard to its full capabilities and be able to explore your own research questions:

In your role at the City of Kingston, you oversee the creation of Sport for Development programs for youth in the region. You want to develop a new program that best captures the physical activity interests of your population, assists in their development, and enable kids to have FUN playing sports! Use the Change the Game 2022 dashboard to determine the best way to develop this program:
  1. First, let’s see how many youth in the Eastern Ontario region participated in sport in the last year and how often they play.
    • Deselect “All” and select “Eastern Ontario” in the Ontario Region section of the Filters.
    Next, scroll down to the “Return to Play” section of the dashboard. In the first figure, you can see that 55.73% of youth in this region participated in sport in the last year!

    You can also see that almost a quarter (22.65%) of this population participates in sport less than 1 time per week.
  2. You would love to structure this program towards engaging the Black & Indigenous communities. Let’s investigate the sense of belonging to the community that Black & Indigenous youth in your region feel.
    Return back to the Filters section of the dashboard, and under Race, deselect “All” and select “Black” and “Indigenous”.
    Now, right below the filters you can see the Sense of Belonging to Community figure in the Culture of the Game section. You can see that over half (54.5%) of the youth in this group feel a Weak sense of belonging to their community.
  3. You would love to structure this program towards engaging the Black & Indigenous communities. Let’s investigate the sense of belonging to the community that Black & Indigenous youth in your region feel.
    • Scroll back up to the Filters section of the dashboard.
    • Press the “Esc” key to remove all filters.
    • On the Ontario Region filter, deselect “All” and select “Eastern Ontario”.
    • On the Gender filter, deselect “All” and select “Girls & Young Women”.
    Scroll down to the Ideas for Change section of the dashboard, and you can see that using “Sports as a learning space for social, emotional, & life skills” is the most common response in this group to change the game long-term.
    Now, scroll down further to the Return to Play section and you can see that the top three favourite sports for Girls & Young Women are: (1) Soccer, (2) Swimming, and (3) Volleyball.
