MLSE Foundation, ENAGB partnership

Who is ENAGB?

Eshkiniigjik Naandwechigegamig Aabiish Gaa Binjibaaying (ENAGB) focuses on providing cultural, employment, life skills, holistic wellness, and recreational opportunities to youth ages 12-29. Programming is designed through youth participation and works to build self-esteem, confidence, skills, and self-determination.  ENAGB is an Indigenous youth-led and Indigenous youth-focused organization. As leaders in this intersection, ENAGB has demonstrated their successful, culturally relevant approach as a recipient of our 2020 Community Action Grants. ENAGB’s charitable mandate would enable them to give to non-qualified donees, and support youth-led projects themselves.

In 2022, MLSE Foundation invested $1,000,000 into Indigenous Communities through a 4-year partnership with ENAGB Indigenous Youth Agency. We sat down with members of ENAGB both at the director level and youth employment level to discuss the impact of ENAGB's work and how our partnership has helped them grow to impact more Indigenous youth across the province.

You don't see us on TV, you don't see us in, in certain places....and so it's like you feel like we were left out when we're supposed to be, you know, one of the original peoples of North America.
Cynthia Bell, Executive Director, ENAGB Indigenous Youth Agency
"For them, House of Hockey also became the House of Dreams."
Lisa Wiele, MLSE LaunchPad
When I first joined ENAGB and learned about the resources, I was so glad and happy ... I was like 'this is it' finally something that has everything I would need
Tristen Campeau, ENAGB Youth Program Coordinator Assistant
