MLSE LaunchPad, Subway Partner to Bring Healthy Eating to Nutrition Hub
MLSE Foundation is proud to announce a new partnership on MLSE LaunchPad's nutrition hub with Subway Canada. Leading with nutrition and wellness, Subway is helping to establish a cutting-edge Nutrition Hub for members at MLSE LaunchPad. This initiative represents our unwavering commitment to providing our youth with healthier and more informed dining options while teaching them the importance of healthy eating and a nutritious diet. Proper nutrition is an essential building block for children to reach their full potential.
"The partnership is really bringing together two companies with shared values and shared missions to tackle child food insecurity across the country," said Managing Director of Subway Canada Douglas Fry. "It’s really about providing nutritious meals.”
The nutrition hub encourages healthy eating habits, the promotion of positive lifestyle choices and a space for hospitality workforce development opportunities. We believe that everyone deserves access to fresh, nutritious, and great-tasting food.
"The partnership is really bringing together two companies with shared values"
Earlier this summer, we hosted a launch event at MLSE LaunchPad to celebrate the partnership.
"We had the opportunity to celebrate the launch of a new partnership with Subway on our Nutrition Hub here at MLSE LaunchPad," said MLSE LaunchPad Managing Director Lisa Wiele. "We had 100 kids in the space, we had activations on court, in the kitchen, in the classroom, kids were making their own subs … it was an exceptional day.”
"For them, House of Hockey also became the House of Dreams."
Like everything at MLSE LaunchPad, there is a lot of intention that goes into our nutrition hub. The hub is home to several programs, such as Healthy Me, where youth learn more about healthy eating and have the tools, space, and coaching to learn to cook themselves.
“They’re learning how to cook. They’re learning skills, they’re learning the importance of food and education, food literacy.” Toronto Raptors alumnus Alvin Williams explained. "They're learning the proper fuel and food to put in their bodies to achieve great outcomes."
Our partnership to create the Nutrition Hub represents a step forward in the positive direction to make healthier choices easier. We are excited to embark on this journey and look forward to sharing the benefits of this initiative. Together, we can build a healthier future.
